The following information is gleaned from incident reports, which are public record, from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Gray Police Department April 16-19, 2026
April 16
One warrant, two arrests
Dep. Coley responded to a call in reference to serving a probation warrant on a female. Once Coley arrived at the residence, she was accompanied by Lt. Carr and Inv. Hall. Coley and a trainee approached the front door of the residence, knocked on the door and identified themselves as law enforcement. Coley stated that nine minutes into the call, she observed a female subject walking inside the residence. The female inside the residence stated that she was “trying to use the bathroom.”
Coley continued knocking on the front door and instructed the female to come to the door. The female finally complied and came to the door. The female had an active in-house probation warrant.
Lt. Carr was standing by and advised the female that he heard other individuals inside the house and asked the female who else was present. The female stated that her sisters were inside the residence.
The wanted female was placed in handcuffs and seated on the front porch with the trainee due to the active probation warrant. Lt. Carr and Inv. Hall conducted a search of the female offender’s room and other areas of the residence based on investigative observations.
While speaking to one of the other female sisters, they located two small blue pills with identifying imprints. The sister admitted the pills belonged to her and was at that time taken in custody for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. Both females were transported to the Jones County Jail without incident.
April 17
False name given
Officer Holloway was on routine patrol in the area of West Clinton St. when his tag reader came up to indicate a vehicle with a suspended license nearby. Holloway ran the vehicle tag number, and it came back to show as being expired, suspended and having no valid insurance on the vehicle.
Holloway conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at that time. The officer made contact with the female driver and asked her for her driver’s license. The female replied to the officer that she did not have her license with her but gave him her name and date of birth. Holloway returned to his patrol vehicle and ran the female driver’s information through the GCIC system. While looking at the displayed information from the GCIC system, Holloway determined that the picture in the system did not match the physical identity of the driver he stopped.
Holloway returned to the female driver and advised her he did not believe she was the same person as the name she gave him. The female then told Holloway that she did give him a different name and date of birth because she had a warrant out of Bibb County. The officer then verified the warrant was valid and placed the female driver in custody. Holloway transported the female driver to the Jones County LEC and issued her citations for expired registration, suspended registration, no valid insurance and giving false name and date of birth to a Law Enforcement Officer.
April 18
Candy thief
Lt. Lovick received a phone call from a local business in regards to trespassing. The complainant advised that there was an offender returning to the business that had previously been trespassed from the property. The complainant also stated that the offender had been coming into the business and stealing entire boxes of candy. The offender would place the items in a backpack and then exit the business. A video of the thefts was shown to Lovick along with the description of the merchandise that was stolen, and the cost of the items. Lovick observed on the footage the offender on March 31 through April 16 take seven large boxes of candy and two beers. The running total of items taken was $689.71. At that time, Lovick took a warrant out against the offender for theft by shoplifting and eight counts of criminal trespass. Lovick served the offender with the two warrants in the booking area of the Jones County Jail due to the offender already in there for the theft of a bicycle the previous night.
April 19
Officer Holloway was conducting a routine traffic stop on Gray Hwy. at Landfall at Porter when he observed a vehicle driving in the median. Holloway immediately cancelled the traffic stop he started and turned around with his blue lights and siren active attempting to stop the vehicle. While Holloway was catching up to the vehicle, he saw it enter the southbound lane while traveling north. The vehicle then traveled back into the median and then into the right hand northbound lane.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop when Sgt. Hathaway met it head on by using his patrol vehicle to perform a box Self-medicating
Dog attack
Officer Holloway was dispatched to a residence in reference to a dog attacking a person. While en route, Dispatch advised that the dog was still actively attacking. Once Holloway arrived on scene, he spoke to two complainants.
One complainant told the officer that she was outside walking her dog on a leash when a Pitbull approached and attacked her dog. The complainant stated she attempted to separate the dogs and the Pitbull started attacking her. While the female was being attacked, the male complainant walked out and was able to stop the attack and separate the dogs by placing a leash on the Pitbull. The Pitbull was then returned to its owner. EMS was called to the scene to treat the female complainant for minor lacerations to her arm and hands, and the male complainant was treated for a laceration on his knee. Both denied further treatment and transport. Jones County Animal Control was called to the scene and the Pitbull was turned over to them for a ten-day quarantine.

Holloway then told the female that he was searching the vehicle and asked if there would be any drugs and the female told the officer “No” she had “already smoked the crack.” No other contraband was found in the vehicle. When the female driver was searched, Holloway found another glass smoking pipe with white residue in her front pocket. The officer then read the female her GA Implied Consent Notice for Suspects 21 years or older and asked for a blood draw. The female complied and agreed to the blood draw, then was transported to the Jones County LEC. The female was issued warrants for possession of drug related objects and possession of crack cocaine under the Violation of GA Controlled Substance Act. Citations for reckless driving, driving in a median, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, failure to maintain lane, DUI drugs less safe and DUI controlled substance were issued to the female.

The officer could tell the female driver was highly agitated, flailing her arms and hands around, breathing heavy and sweating heavy as if she was having some type of medical condition. While speaking with the female driver, Holloway also noticed a medical bracelet on her wrist and EKG leads on her chest around her shirt collar area. The female stated she had recently been released from the emergency room.
The emergency room was contacted and verified the female and been treated and released. At that time, Holloway noticed a glass smoking pipe in a dash compartment just left of the steering wheel. The officer asked the female about the pipe, and she stated she had been recently diagnosed with a medical condition and was “self-medicating” by using crack cocaine. Holloway then determined that the female’s agitated behavior and reckless driving was most likely due to being under the influence of crack cocaine. The officer decided not
