Multiple possessions
Lt. Hunnicutt was patrolling the area of West Clinton St. and Bill Conn Parkway when he noticed a vehicle pass by him and detected a strong smell of marijuana. This was the only vehicle in the area at that time. Hunnicutt got behind the vehicle and followed it for a while and continued to smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Hunnicutt activated his blue lights however the driver continued without stopping.
Finally, once the Lt. activated his siren, the vehicle came to a stop. When Hunnicutt made contact with the male driver and female passenger, he could still smell the odor of marijuana. The driver advised Hunnicutt that he was smoking the marijuana.
Hunnicutt had the male driver and female passenger exit the vehicle at that time for a probable cause search. During the search, the Lt. found a metal grinder and a black digital scale in the console.
Hunnicutt then searched the female’s purse and found a baggie containing suspected marijuana, a hand rolled marijuana cigar and two suspected ecstasy pills.
The pills were in the bottom of the purse and were not in any packaging. The driver advised Hunnicutt that the marijuana and ecstasy belonged to him. At that time, the male subject was placed under arrest. Further investigation of the male driver revealed he also had a suspended license. The female passenger was released from the scene along with the vehicle. The driver was transported to the Jones County LEC. Hunnicutt made contact with a Magistrate Judge and a warrant was issued for the male for possession of methamphetamine, the main ingredient in ecstasy.
The male was charged with possession of meth, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and driving while license suspended.

Stolen energy drinks
Deputy Caldwell was dispatched to a local business on Shurling Drive in reference to shoplifting that occurred. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the store manager that stated she observed a male taking multiple energy drinks and stuffing them into his pants and then walk out of the store without paying for the merchandise.
The store manager tried to make contact with the male subject, and she stated when she did so, the male began walking faster and left the store and the property. The manager showed Caldwell the store’s video footage of the incident. The store manager also advised Caldwell that the subject looked familiar from a prior shoplifting incident that he was arrested for, however she did not know the subject’s name. After getting all the information from the manager, the deputy began searching the area but was not successful in locating him. Caldwell presented the manager with a business card containing the case number and went back into service.

Stolen mail and packages
Deputy Astyk was dispatched to a residence in reference to a theft. When he arrived, he made contact with the complainant that advised him she had multiple items delivered to her mailbox and they were no longer there. She had not immediately retrieved the mail from the box due to running errands at the time of delivery. The complainant advised the deputy that she has the USPS take pictures of her mail and packages and they email those pictures to her, so she was aware of what she received that day.
The complainant’s daughter had also received a credit card that was delivered that day. The credit card had not been activated but was attempted to be used several times in Milledgeville, however the attempted charges was denied. Astyk advised the complainant that a report would be filed, and an investigation would be conducted. This is pending further investigation.
