The Exchange Bank Board of Directors and John C. Childs, Jr., president and CEO, are delighted to announce the recent promotion of Barbara Merritt to the position of assistant vice president.
Merritt embarked on her banking journey with Exchange Bank in 2006 as a teller, displaying a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence from the beginning. She has steadily progressed through various roles throughout her career, including vault custodian, customer service representative, assistant branch supervisor, branch supervisor, branch manager, and loan officer at our Gray office.

Merritt and her husband Mell are residents of Gray, GA, and are well-known and respected members of the community. Her pursuit of professional growth and expertise extends beyond her everyday responsibilities.
Merritt has completed the Community Bankers Association’s Consumer Lending and Commercial Lending programs. She is currently working on completing the Georgia Banking School Program at the University of Georgia through the Georgia Bankers Association. This commitment to ongoing education showcases her determination to enhance her knowledge and skills, ensuring she stays at the forefront of the banking industry.
