Forefathers of America, a local patch shop, sells presidential patches for people who wish to learn about history and educate the youth of Jones County on former presidents.
The business is located at 194 Cleveland Street in Gray, and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Reginald Finney, the owner of Forefathers of America, is from Gray. Finney said he hasn’t forgotten about Gray, but he’s since moved to Newnan. He said Jones County is still a great place, and he’ll never forget where he came from.
“I love the small community of Jones County. I love the high school and the schools that I attended,” he said. “I love the people in Jones County, too. Jones County has seen a lot of growth recently, and I feel my business is a great contribution to the community.”
He said he began Forefathers of America in 2010, but got his website started in 2020. He said his business is important to Jones County, because it’s where he was born and raised. He said he wants younger people in the community to see a local has their own business, setting a great example for them.
“Forefathers of America is a business of presidential patches with their faces on them. You can attach them to wear on any garment. I thought this was educational for kindergarten through twelfth grade. The younger generation can learn from the patches,” Finney said.
Finney’s wife, Cynthia Finney, said she went to school in Macon, and she met Reginald 34 years ago. Even though she said she’s not from Jones County, she likes the close-knit community. She said Jones County has a wonderful atmosphere.
“I think his business is great. A lot of children don’t know anything pertaining to the former presidents,” she said. “They need to know exactly who is running this great country. This is our forefathers we can be extremely proud of.”
The store owner said he has patches of former president Donald Trump, late president Ronald Raegan and former president Jimmy Carter. He said he feels those three were great to start with. He said the patches are $10 each. He said he wanted to make them affordable for everyone. He said he accepts cards as payment.
“We are a strong nation together. America has always bounced back no matter what,” the store owner said. “We know Forefathers of America will be one of the leading brands in the near future. We know it will consist of educating young people for years to come. It’s a historic product.”
