Gray Computers services with a personable touch

Gray Computers, a local computer service shop owned by Joe Rutledge, is open to help Jones County residents with all of their computer needs with a personable touch.

The local business is located at 189 West Clinton Street in Gray, and is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. To reach staff, call 478-986-1213.

Rutledge said he grew up in Bibb

County, but found out Jones County was a great place to live, so he moved. He said the school system is wonderful, and he enjoys working in Gray. He said he started Gray Computers in 2007.

“This is such a wonderful town. I don’t think I could make it in a big town,” he said. “My stress level would be too much. People in Jones County are a little more slow-paced, so the demand isn’t too much for me.”

He said Gray is the best town in the world to run a computer service business for him. He said Gray Computers is important for Jones County, because residents can stay in Gray for their computer service needs.

“Gray Computers is a service company. We’re like a convenience store for things you might need all of a sudden for your computer. To have a little shop like this has turned out to be a huge blessing, when at first it was a huge headache. We’re a people service, not just a computer service,” Rutledge said.

The shop owner said he mainly does networking and business services, but also does computer repairs. He said they do virus removals, hard drive replacements, laptop repairs, device troubleshooting, device cleaning, and much more.

“We sell things here that might break on you, such as your speakers, keyboard, mouse, power supplies, and most common things you would need if your computer went out,” the shop owner said. “We have Wifi stuff, routers and other things for your internet, too.”

Rutledge said if Gray ever grew he might consider a bigger store, but he doesn’t see a need right now. He said he wants people to get the best deal they can, so he said if they can order an item online cheaper or get it at Best Buy cheaper, he suggests doing so. He said he charges around $100 for a computer service.

He said he’s not sure why God gave him the talent and skills to fix computers, because he’s never really liked them. He said God has taught him patience, and taught him how to be useful to Him. He said he’s doing what he’s supposed to be doing.

“I think we offer a personable and secure experience, because we are a small family owned business,” Rutledge said. “The ability to help people every day is my favorite thing to do here. I’m able to serve God and do my job every day. If it wasn’t for God, we wouldn’t even be here.”
