JV Volley Hounds helping to build firm foundation

VOLLEYBALL

After winning just four times last year, Jones County’s JV volleyball team took a 2-0 victory against Peach County last Wednesday, ending the season with a record of 15-7, the most wins of any of JCHS volleyball squads, making a clear statement that while volleyball may be a new sport at JCHS, its future is very bright.

“Most of these girls have played together for two years and have become a family, and the future of JCHS volleyball is looking bright knowing that this family will continue to improve, grow and work together as a team to represent JCHS in the best way possible,” Lady Hounds JV head coach Kim Hanner said. “I couldn’t be prouder of their teamwork and who they are as athletes and individuals.”

And with the varsity squad graduating four seniors, and as with any sport, there is always the potential for unexpected injuries. So, the table is set for a bulk of these players to have the opportunity to claim a spot on the varsity squad next year.

“Their winning record speaks for itself, and even greater things are expected next year,” Hanner said.

This year’s team consisted of Amberly Fields, Lyndsie Hanner, Kynnidi Houston, Callie Mayo, Carly Mercer, Emily Parks, Malea Rogers, Katelyn Savage and Zakeena Sturgeon.
