Jane Whitehead representing the Jones County Kiwanis Club presents a check for $5,000 to Curtis Spires, Scoutmaster of Troop 485. She also presented a check for $2,000 to Scoutmaster Spires representing the Eston Altman Scouting Center of Jones County. The donations represented much of the proceeds of the Francis Golson Memorial Golf Tournament. The remaining proceeds will be distributed to other children’s charities in Jones County. Both Eston Altman and Francis Golson were a long-time members of the Kiwanis Club and big supporters of scouting in Jones County. The scouting center is available for use by any scouts, both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, in Jones County.
