A domestic dispute led to a kidnapping charge last week after a request to end a discussion elevated to a scary situation.
Landon Pritchett, 23, was arrested March 27 and charged with false imprisonment, simple assault and kidnapping.
In a report of the incidents that led to the arrest, Jones County Sheriff’s Deputy Don Steib stated he was dispatched to a Baker Road address just before midnight March 26.
When he arrived, the deputy spoke to the complainant, who stated Prichett had contacted her wanting to talk. The alleged offender was allowed into the residence, but the conversation took a turn when the complainant stated their relationship was over.
The complainant said she told Steib that she asked Prichett to leave, but he refused. She said when she attempted to leave, he followed, picked her up and carried her back inside.
He was told by the complainant that she had been held against her will for an hour, during which she was scared and uncertain what the alleged offender might do.
The complainant said Prichett knew where a firearm was located in the home, but when he walked in that direction, she took the opportunity to leave the residence.
She got in her vehicle and locked the doors.
The complainant told the deputy Pritchett came after her and began striking the windows of the car until she showed him she had her phone and was calling 911.
Steib said the complainant was able to show him a video of Pritchett carrying her back into the house.
