Real Life

“Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good”--Rom 13:9 The Halloween decorations are out and front yards are covered with skeletons, tomb stones, black cats, witches, monsters, and the like. October 31 has become a night that celebrates death.

But death is our enemy.

It is not a part of life. I Cor 15:26 says “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” We certainly don’t need to be celebrating the enemy of Life or making light of it.

Halloween means All Hallow’s Eve, the night before All Saint’s Day. It is meant to be a holy evening before a holy day. While celebrating autumn with fall festivals and such are fine, Christians should certainly avoid all the dark elements of Halloween, even to the point of avoiding certain costumes and practices!

October 31 is a day that belongs to Jesus; a day the Lord has made, so let us rejoice and be glad in it--Ps. 113:24.

On that day, let us put aside the skeletons, tomb stones, black cats, witches, monsters, and all images of darkness, and instead, glorify Jesus our Lord, the Light and Life of the world! The only ghost we need on All Hallow’s Eve is the Holy Ghost.
