–George Sheffield And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel. (Gen 3:15).
The first mention of Christmas in the Bible is Gen 3:15. In this verse God announces the coming redeemer, the Savior of men, the seed of a woman. This is of course Jesus.
Jesus would come as the seed of a woman, not the seed of a man. Jesus had no human father. God is His Father. The humanity of Jesus would come by way of His mother. But because God is His Father, Jesus by-passed inheriting the sin nature that Adam has passed on to all people. Since Jesus is sinless, yet still human, His blood could then atone for sinful man. The baby in the manger of Bethlehem was none other than God in the flesh. And He came to bruise--to crush--the head of the devil. The devil would land a bruise on Jesus’ heel (the cross), but with the resurrection, the devil was destroyed.
Satan lost his power and authority when Jesus stepped out of that tomb, the bruising crush on his head completed. Jesus, the Christmas seed, has defeated Satan. Jesus has defeated death. Jesus has defeated sin.
Come to the winning side because until you are saved you are following a defeated leader. Christmas has come to town and with it, victory in Jesus.
