“The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.” (1 Cor 1:18 NLT) The message of the cross is this--we are sinners. Sin brings eternal death, the wrath of God on sin. We can’t save ourselves. We need a Savior. Jesus is that Savior, the only Savior.
To many, the cross is foolish. How can a man dying on an instrument of execution do anyone any good? But the cross was God’s plan to redeem sinful man because there the blood flowed as an atonement for sin. Jesus said “This is My blood of the new testament which is shed for many for the remission of sin.”--Mt 26:28. It is at the cross where the blood flowed that the power of God is displayed to save anyone who is willing to be saved.
On Saturday, April 12 at 10am, we will have the Walk With The Cross event; a silent walk following the cross as it is carried ahead of us. As we walk, we will silently pray for the souls of Jones County. The cross will speak to those who witness it as it passes by.
We will meet at Carol’s Park at 10am and from there walk down to Ingles then silently proceed back to Carol’s Park to conclude the event.
Put on your walking shoes and come help carry the cross of Jesus to others here in Jones County.
