“All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.” (Jn 1:3) In the very first book of the Bible, Genesis, we learn that God is Lord, God is Light, and God is Life. God is Lord in that He is the Creator of everything, speaking all things into existence. He created all that is out of absolutely nothing. God is Light because He brought light into a dark creation, His light. And we see that He brought Life into a lifeless world, because God is Life. Lord, Light, Life.
When Jesus came to earth, the very earth He created, He continued this theme. Jesus is Lord for we are told in John 1:3 that nothing was made without Him. As Lord, He healed those with sickness, delivered those with demons, commanded the wind and waves to be still, forgave sins, and conquered death by His resurrection. And we need to remember that He will return one day to forever establish His kingdom, to rule and reign in righteousness. Every tongue will confess and proclaim that Jesus is Lord. Yes, Jesus is Lord!
