Shirley MacLaine says she was a prostitute in a previous life. Glenn Ford was a Christian martyr, eaten by a lion. Loretta Lynn was a Cherokee princess, and Sylvester Stallone believes he once lived life as a monkey. (Time, 9-10-84). What do all these celebrities have in common other than stardom?
They all share the belief in reincarnation--the idea of the rebirth of the soul into a new body. Same soul, but different body. A 1982 Gallup poll showed that 23% of Americans share this belief.
But Heb. 9:27 tells us: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Each person has an appointment with death, after which they will be judged as to how they lived their life. No one will live and die several times.
Reincarnation is deception, used by Satan to keep people from seeing the need for salvation. Glenn Ford said reincarnation conquered his fear of death. Imagine! No fear of facing a holy God to give an account of one’s life! Jesus warns us to fear God who can destroy both soul and body in hell--Mt 10:28.
This life is the only one you’ve got. Make the most of it by living it for Jesus.
