A suspect in an aggravated battery case is currently held without bond in the Jones County jail following an additional charge filed due to the condition of the victim in the case.
Michael Adams Youngblood, 40, was arrested May 26 and charged with simple battery and aggravated battery. A report of the incident leading to his arrested by Lt. Travis Walker with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office states he responded to Kimberly Drive May 25 in reference to an SOS ping in the area. He said he did not hear anything coming from the residence, and everything appeared quiet. The officer said he returned to service because accidental 911 calls are common. Walker said at 6:15 a.m., a 911 call was received from the victim who reported Youngblood had been terrorizing her throughout the night and she was hiding in the woods. He said law enforcement was informed a weapon was involved.
Units responded to the Kimberly Drive residence again, and dispatch operators coached the victim out of the woods. Walker said as she was loaded into the ambulance, he saw swelling to her forehead and under her eye.
The victim stated Youngblood slammed her head into a wall prior to their arrival and threatened her with a firearm. She said she hid in the woods and a neighbor’s truck all night. Her statements included that Youngblood attempted to set the bed on fire.
Walker later followed up with the victim and returned to the residence to gather more information. He said a white bus was parked in her driveway that he recalled was previously parked down the hill at the wood line.
The officer added that the victim’s car was also in the driveway, heavily covered in mud with front-end damage.
Walker said units cleared the residence to ensure Youngblood was no longer inside. Signs of struggle were found in the house, including holes in the walls. The house had been ransacked, and an AR15 .22 caliber rifle was found on the upstairs bedroom floor. An empty pistol holder was lying in the middle of the floor, and a burned pillow and ceiling fan were found in the yard.
The lieutenant said he contacted Youngblood by phone, who stated he left an hour before officers arrived. The suspect could not be located at that time, but a warrant was taken out for his arrest.
Walker said after he found out the victim was in the intensive care unit as a result of her injuries, an additional warrant was obtained against Youngblood for the charge of aggravated battery, family violence.
A Facebook post by the Jones County Sheriff’s Office states Youngblood was located by the US Marshals SE Regional Task Force May 26, and he is currently at the Jones County Law Enforcement Center.
The post also reported the victim is currently stable and receiving medical care.
Walker’s report states the case remains active and under investigation.
