Thomas Elder is the local veteran of the week. He served in the U.S. Army from 1980 - 1999, including operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. During his service, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal (4th award), and the Army Service Ribbon.
