Georgia Oath Keeper pleads guilty in attack on U.S. Capitol

ATLANTA - A Georgia member of the right-wing anti-government group Oath Keepers pleaded guilty Friday to seditious conspiracy and obstruction of an official proceeding in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Candidates answer questions ahead of Thursday’s forum

Each of the candidates for chair of the Jones County Board of Education were sent nine questions, and their answers appear in their entirety. The answers begin with an introductory statement from the candidates of what they wanted voters to know about them.

GINGER BAILEY (incumbent)

I am a 51 year resident of Jones County, 32 year resident of Haddock, 25 years as a teacher in Jones County, 15 years as a Discipline Chairman, and 12 years as Chairman of Board of Education. I have 3 grown children who graduated from the Jones Co.

BRADY SKINNER

My name is Brady Skinner, I have lived in Jones County for almost 30 years. I am married and have 4 children. My daughter and her husband have two boys, and the oldest attends Jones County PreK.

District 3 takes trophy for cleanup

Jones County’s April 23 Community Pride Cleanup crowned Commissioner Wendy Vaughn and District 3 as the winners of the contest, but the community was the ultimate winner. A total of 475 bags of trash, two trailer loads of electronics and 1,100 tires were taken off the streets.
