It has been an incredible honor to serve as your City Councilman for a number of years. Together, we have worked hard to make our community a better place: creating safer neighborhoods, expanding local businesses, our wastewater treatment plant and improving the quality of life for all our residents. Working with the police and fire departments, we have also improved safety in our communities. The progress we’ve made is something I’m deeply proud of, but there is still work to do.
As I campaign for re-election, I want to reaffirm my commitment to the values that matter most to our city; transparency, accountability and listening to YOU. Your voices and concerns have always guided my decisions, and I promise to continue to prioritize your needs. I have been labeled as a career politician because of my many years of dedicated service to this city.
I don’t think of myself as such.
I’d like to see myself as a public servant, doing basically the same as a politician.
Several years ago, my wife was hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL and during that time, I didn’t miss a meeting because my children and I worked our schedules, so I could still serve as your councilman. Unfortunately, my wife passed away from her illness.
Your concerns deserve to be heard every time decisions are made, and I’ve made sure your voice is always at the table.
Together, we’ve proven that when leadership is accountable and the community is engaged, real progress happens. I’m ready to keep working hard for our city and for you. I respectfully ask for your vote and your continued trust as we build a stronger future – together.
My name is Lehman Wood and I am running for our District 2.

For as long as I can remember, Gray has been my home.
I have lived here for more than 60 years, raised my family here, built businesses here, and for the past 25 years, I have had the honor of serving District 3 on the Gray City Council. This position has never been just a title to me, it is a responsibility, a calling, and a commitment to the people who live, work, and grow in this community.
When I drive or walk through our town, I see the results of dedication and collaboration. I think of the sidewalks we have improved to enhance safety and accessibility, the long hours spent strengthening our infrastructure, and the careful planning that has protected our city’s finances. I think of the evenings at the Lions Club Fairgrounds, working side by side with friends and neighbors to support causes greater than ourselves.
Many know me through my years in construction with Fulford & Willis Construction and Roof Truss Company.
Others know me from my service with the Jones County Lions Club, the American Legion, the Chamber of Commerce, or Sincerity Lodge. And many of you simply know me as a familiar face—a neighbor, a classmate, or the man who waves from his truck and stops to chat at the grocery store.
To those who are new to Gray, I extend a warm welcome. Ours is a town rooted in tradition and guided by shared values—where service still matters, and neighbors look out for one another.
Whether you have lived here all your life or recently made Gray your home, you are part of this community, and I am honored to represent you as well.
In recent years, I have worked diligently to ensure that Gray’s growth remains thoughtful, balanced, and sustainable. As Finance Committee Chairman, I have helped guide our budget with fiscal responsibility and foresight. I have supported critical improvements to our sewer and water systems, ensuring that our infrastructure keeps pace with progress. As Public Safety Chairman I’ve worked with the Council to ensure the police & fire departments have the supplies and support needed for the safety of the citizens & business of Gray. I have promoted responsible zoning decisions, and supported community events that bring our residents together.
Above all, my most important role has always been that of a family man. I am a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. I understand what it means to care deeply for family, and I bring that same dedication and compassion to every decision I make on behalf of this city.
I believe in listening before speaking, showing up when it matters most, and doing what is right, not merely what is easy or popular. I have strived to lead with humility, experience, and integrity, and I would be truly honored to continue serving in that spirit.
