–George Sheffield Jesus said “I am the Resurrection and the Life: he that believes in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”--Jn 11:25.
Jesus is teaching us that the Resurrection isn’t merely a day, isn’t merely an event, isn’t merely a happening. The resurrection is HIM! And Jesus uses the I AM, the name YHWH. His claim to deity. He tells us that as God, He is the resurrection. The resurrection is not a what.
It is a Who. Jesus--the I AM, YHWH, God--is the Resurrection and the Life.
Without Jesus there ain’t no resurrection.
Those who believe in Jesus, even if they die, will still live though they are dead. Folks who die in His grace, those believes sleeping in the graves and tombs right now, though they are dead, yet they shall live when Jesus commands them to all come forth.
There won’t be a casket or vault that can stop them from coming forth. Death will have to loose them and let them go. All because the Resurrection and Life said so.
Jesus is the resurrection-- He alone is the one who can raise the dead.
But He is also the life. He alone is the one who gives life to the resurrected.
Jesus is the God of the living.
