The following information is gleaned from incident reports, which are public record, from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Gray Police Department March 2-7, 2026
March 2
Donuts in the parking lot
Gray PD advised over the radio that they had received a text message reporting a vehicle doing donuts in the parking lot of one of the Recreation Centers. Dep.
Braziel proceeded towards the location. While enroute to the scene, Inv. Hall radioed that a vehicle was leaving the Rec. Dept. at a high rate of speed. Dep.
Braziel and Inv. Hall located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Upon approaching the vehicle, Braziel noticed two young boys inside. The boys exact ages were not known at that time.
Braziel made contact with the female driver and while speaking to her, he noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her breath. When asked about the odor, the female advised that she had consumed a THC shot. During the course of the investigation, the female driver admitted that one of the boys inside the vehicle was with her while she was performing donuts in the parking lot. Due to the suspected impairment, Braziel requested assistance from Dep. Dennis who is certified in Standardized Field Sobriety testing. Dep. Dennis arrived and conducted the field sobriety evaluations. Based on Dep.
Dennis’ evaluation, the female driver was determined to be under the influence of some type of drug and was deemed less safe to operate a motor vehicle. The female was placed under arrest for DUI and read the Georgia Implied Consent Notice for suspects aged 21 or over, and the female refused to submit to the state administered chemical test. The two boys in the vehicle were released to an adult who responded to the scene. The female driver was transported to the Jones County LEC where Braziel completed a search warrant for her blood, which was signed by a judge. The female driver was issued a notice of license suspension and issued the appropriate citations, DUI child endangerment, reckless driving and DUI refusal.
Marijuana odor in parking lot
Officer Josey was working as a School Resource Officer outside monitoring bus traffic in the parking lot when he smelt the strong odor of marijuana.
The odor seemed to be coming from a vehicle parked in front of the school. All the doors on the vehicle were opened and there was a female standing outside the vehicle. Josey walked over to the female and introduced himself and the reason for making contact with her was the odor of the marijuana. The female advised the officer that the vehicle belonged to a relative.
The female was the sole occupant of the vehicle at that time and Josey advised her that if there was anything found then it belonged to her. The female then told the officer she had a blunt in the car but that was it. Officer Joiner arrived on scene and started a probable cause search of the vehicle. On the driver’s side floorboard of the vehicle, Josey located a purple rubber bag that contained a metal marijuana grinder with residue inside. A purse was located and inside, a THC vape was found. In the center console cup holder area, there was a half smoked blunt cigar and another THC vape.
Behind the radio screen, there was a Swisher Sweet package that also contained two marijuana blunts along with a jar containing numerous amounts of buds believed to be marijuana. The female was placed under arrest by officer Joiner and transported to the Jones County LEC. Four warrants were secured for the female subject, possession of schedule I narcotics, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and possession of drug related objects.
March 4
Flying burgers
Officer Jones was dispatched to a local restaurant in reference to an unruly customer. When Jones arrived on scene, he met with one of the employees.
The employee told the Officer that the male stated that he did not like the sauce on the food and ordered another item. When the male and his wife went up to the register to pay, the employee tried to make it right payment wise since the male was not pleased. The male ended up ordering a burger and when they gave him a to go box, the male grabbed the burger and threw it across the restaurant. The employee showed Officer Jones a picture of the male subject. Officer Jones then showed Officer Farley a picture of the male and Farley knew who the male was and where he lived. Jones then called the owner of the restaurant and the owner advised he wanted the male trespassed. Officer Jones and Officer Farley went to the residence of the male subject and made contact with him. The male was told on body camera that he was criminally trespassed from the business, and the male subject advised he understood and that he and his wife would not be returning to the restaurant.
