“He is not here: for He is risen, as He said.” (Matt 28:6) Jesus lay in the grave three days and nights just like He said He would. And just as He also said, He would rise from the dead after three days! (Mk 8:31).
The sealed tomb could not keep Him. The Roman soldiers could not stop Him. The coldness of death itself could not hold Him.
He Is Risen! And He will always be Risen!
In rising from the dead, Jesus fulfilled Scripture: “For Thou wilt not leave My soul in hell; neither wilt Thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption. “(Ps 16:10).
The wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23), but death could not lay a legal, permanent claim on sinless Jesus who had no sin wages.
Also, Jesus would not see corruption--physical decay. Death had no claim on Him therefore decay could not touch Him. He is the Holy One! And try as they may, Death only had a very feeble grasp on Jesus, and Corruption could not touch Him at all.
After three days, Jesus rose from the grave victorious over sin and death.
On the cross Jesus defeated sin. In rising from the tomb, He defeated death.
And while we are still temporarily subject to sin and death, we too can be victorious over them through faith in Jesus. He Is Risen and one day we will be risen too! A blessed Easter to all.
