The Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds more than held their own under the lights on Friday night, claiming a total of 10 finishes within the top 10 in a field full of teams from the Atlanta area in the Friday Night Under The Lights meet at Starr’s Mill.
Distance-running performances led the way for the Lady Hounds. In addition to a third-place finish in the 4x800 relay thanks to a time of 11:04.20, Tanner Watts and Mary Barnwell finished eighth and ninth in the 1,600-meter run on times of 5:46.91 and 5:47.25. Macie White also finished 20th, running 6:05.86.
The Lady Hounds also took 13th in the 4x400 at 4:38.57 with other top individual showings being Morgan Ragins taking 16th in the long jump at 14-2.50 and Kalayah Lawson being 20th in the shot put, throwing 28-10.00 Performances in multiple events commanded the showing for the Greyhounds, led by Armani Norris finishing third in the 400 meters, running 49.04. Andre Hall was 19th on a time of 51.72.
Another stout day for the distance runners also picked up strong finishes for JCHS. Shaun Williams and Gavin Robinson finished sixth and 13th with times of 1:57.33 and 1:59.97. The impact was even greater in the 1,600 meters, where four Greyhounds finished in the top 10.
Luke Thornton was fifth (4:23.78) followed by Shaun Williams in seventh (4:31.40), Gavin Robnson in ninth (4:33.33), and Clay Lacy in 10th (4:35.64).
In addition to Tyler Marshall’s 14th-place finish in the 3200 meters, running 10:04.26, Braylon Harris was 18th in the 200 meters with a time of 22;64 alongside JR Clark and Travis Miller claiming 12th and 15th in the 100 meters on times of 11:03 and 11:08.
Miller was also fifth in the long jump at 20-10.50.
