“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
(Gal 6:14) Easter has passed, but not its influence and impact. What was a cruel, Roman device of death has now become the symbol of God’s love--the Cross. Designed to inflict a tortuous death, the cross now is the bridge to Heaven, the means where sinful man is reconciled to a holy God.
Jesus was God’s sacrificial lamb who poured out His sinless blood on the old rugged cross for us.
The Light had come and came to stay.
We as believers can glory in the cross. We can’t glory in ourselves or in our deeds because there is no glory in us or what we do. It is in what Christ has done for us on the cross that we can glory in. Because of His work on the cross we can be forgiven of our sins. Because of the cross, we have an eternal life in Heaven. Because of the cross we can boldly come before God’s throne with our needs everyday of our lives. Because of the cross we can fellowship with Jesus and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit Who will comfort and guide us. The cross offers us hope in this life and the life to come.
Because of the cross of Christ, we who believe are forever delivered from the penalty of sin and the sting of death. While the cross is foolishness to the lost, to those who are saved it is the glorious power of God (I Cor 1:18). Thank God for the Cross!
