The celebration was two-fold last week for Aubrey Norris. On Friday at Greyhound Field, she joined the rest of the 2026 graduation class of Jones County High School during graduation ceremonies.
A few days earlier, Norris’ basketball future was cemented.
Joined by coaches, family, and friends, the Lady Greyhounds’ standout made her college destination official during a signing ceremony as Norris will play collegiately for Albany State. Norris is the third Lady Greyhound to sign with a four-year school the last two years. Mya Anderson inked with LaGrange College last year, and earlier this year, Kamiyah Adams signed with Georgia Southwestern State.
“It’s a big deal. For our younger players, it shows them that if they put the work in, this is what they can be rewarded with,” Lady Greyhounds head coach Takeo Gray said. “What those two and Mya Anderson meant for us, to see them all get scholarships in this day and age of NIL, it’s a big accomplishment for them.”
Norris’ backcourt play helped the Lady Greyhounds repeat as region champions this season as Jones County advanced to the GHSA Class AAAA Final Four. Norris averaged 13.2 points per game and six rebounds for JCHS.
“Aubrey was the engine that made it work,” Gray said. “When I first got here, I put a lot of pick-and-roll in our offense because of her and Kamiyah. She was a big reason for how our offense was designed.”
Now, she’ll take those abilities to southwest Georgia for the Golden Rams, who compete in NCAA Division II’s SIAC. That conference alignment will also have Norris playing close to home, as this past year’s in-state opponents within conference play for ASU included Savannah State, Clark Atlanta, and Fort Valley State.
