James Wayne Wright, Sr. passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Piedmont Health Care, Macon, GA. A graveside service was held at Gray Memorial Gardens, 111 Greene Settlement Rd., Gray, GA 31032 on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The Rev.
Brian Litch officiated.
A visitation for family and friends was held Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gray Memorial Chapel, 4378 Gray Highway, Gray GA 31032.
Jimmy was born on Dec. 10, 1954, to the late John H. Wright and Bessie Will Lord Wright.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Wright; siblings, Joan Sheffield, Judy Skinner, Jackie Harwell, John Wright and Joseph Wright.
Jimmy was retired from Middle Georgia Industrial. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandkids.
Jimmy passed on to his children and family the importance of family.
He was known for his work ethic and always reminded his children you had to earn your way and nothing is free. Jimmy was an avid numismatist.
In his collection, he has the only known Interior Court of Jones County one dollar bill dated August 4, 1866. He leaves a legacy that will be remembered by those who love him most as a loving, caring, gentle man. He was honest, strong-willed in his thoughts and beliefs.
Jimmy was proud to have been a volunteer firefighter for Station 5 Jones County.
Jimmy is survived by his sons, James Wayne Wright Jr. (Sherry), Jason Wright (Leann Bishop); grandchildren, Hunter Wright (Tori), Tabytha Chachulski (Michael), Karlie Wright, DeLacey Johnson, Kaleb Chadwick, Brandon Kilgore, Kody Kilgore and great-grandchildren, Reuben Chachulski, Anna Claire Chachulski, Mia Chachulski, Henli Wright, Wyatt Wright, Kari Beth Kilgore, Bradley Kilgore, Lily Chadwick and Maverick Chadwick.
