Dear Editor,
I want to sincerely thank the voters of House District 149 for your support, your prayers, and your confidence in me during the Democratic Primary Election.
Serving the people of Baldwin County, Jones County, and East Macon has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I am deeply humbled that the voters have once again placed their trust in my leadership, experience, and record of service.
This victory was not just about one candidate. It was about the people of District 149 standing together for experienced leadership, proven results, and a vision that puts our communities first.
Over the years, I have fought for better education, stronger support for veterans and seniors, economic opportunity, public safety, and fairness for all people. I have always believed that “Leaders should solve problems, not create them.” That belief continues to guide my public service every single day.
But let me also say this clearly: the work is not over. The General Election in November is critically important, and we cannot afford to become complacent. Every vote will matter. Every voice must be heard. I encourage every supporter to stay engaged, stay energized, and help us continue building a stronger future for House District 149.
If you want to be on the landing, you must be on the takeoff.
Together, we must continue moving forward — not backward.
Again, thank you for your trust, your encouragement, and your belief in our campaign. With your continued support, we will carry this momentum through November and continue fighting for the people of District 149.

National Garden Week
Dear Editor,
During spring, the reason for renewal, millions of Americans turn joyfully to gardening. President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the week of April 13, 1986, as National Garden Week, calling governments, private organizations, and all Americans to join in educational efforts, ceremonies, and other appropriate activities to show appreciation for the efforts and contributions of gardeners.
Gray Garden Club plans to participate in activities observing National Garden Week. National Garden Week is June 7-13, 2026. GGC’s monthly meeting is at Bradley Baptist Church. Chelsea McClain will speak on food insecurity and learning to grow your own food, helping with food insecurity, helping with nutrition for people and the earth. Mayor Ed Barbee and Board Chair Chris Weidner will sign the Proclamation for National Garden Week. Signs and Day Lily Guides for the Day Lily display will be placed at Ace Hardware, W. E. Knox Civic Center, JC Library and Gray Feed & Seed. GGC invites all day lily growers to bring specimen for entry into the display on June 6 at the W. E. Knox Civic Center from 8 – 10 a.m. Day lilies and other flowers will be sold outside the Civic Center beginning at 9 a.m. Please visit Federated Garden Club of Gray GA Facebook to see club activities. Flowers will be placed in public places in honor of NGW. GGC is donating flowers to the Senior Citizens Center. An article will be placed in the Jones County News. GGC is planning a trip in honor of NGW. These are some of the activities planned for NGW.
Gardeners have a passion for nurturing the beauty and resources of the earth through the planting of seeds, the care of all plants and the riches of their efforts. They seek to add beauty, splendor, fragrance and nutrition to our lives through the growing of herbs, vegetables, foliage and flowers. They work to preserve our country’s traditional spirit of independence and initiative through innovation and hard work.
Gardeners advocate the importance of all creatures, large and small, that share our world and their roles in a balanced and productive ecology. Gardening furnishes a challenging and productive activity for many citizens, for those just learning, as well as those having years of experience. It promotes a healthy lifestyle that last a lifetime, helps reduce stress from other areas of life, and teaches that rewards can come from diligent effort. Gardeners enable members of Garden Clubs across the nation and the world to serve together in the communities where they reside and work. Please join GGC in honoring NGW.
