Connie Claire Granade passed away Tuesday morning, May 26, 2026, in the care of her loving daughter. A memorial service to honor Connie was held Saturday afternoon, May 30, 2026, at Gray Memorial Chapel at 5:00 p.m. with a visitation for family and friends one hour prior to the service. The Rev.
Ricky Feagin officiated.
Connie was born on January 15, 1936, in Augusta, GA to the late Leonard Hunter Kitchens Sr. and Irene Cawthorn Kitchens. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, William Garrett, and Tim Granade; daughters, Debbie Greene and Janice Brookins; son-in-law, John Kersey; and grandson, Travis Greene.
Connie was an active member of God’s Grace Baptist Church where everyone loved her. Her deep commitment to her faith always redirected a negative conversation to the positive. She enjoyed her weekly card games with her girlfriends.
The annual family Christmas gathering was her favorite time of year. The word that best described Connie was a precious soul. She was a joy to be around, and everyone loved her. Her legacy for which she will be remembered by those who loved her most for her thoughtful, selfless, devoted, genuine and gracious life.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Kersey; grandchildren, Denny (Ally) Wood, Wesley Kersey, Dawn (John) Courson, Jennifer (Doug) Reed, Mendi (Chris) Jackson, Levi (Amanda) Greene, Cody (Kayla) Greene, and Jessi (Jake) Barnes; nephew, Hunter Kitchens; brother, Leonard (Sarah) Kitchens and 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
