Two advance to finals
From the Morris Bank Recreation Complex all the way over to the west of Macon-Bibb, district tournament all-star play began last week in both baseball and softball.
Close to home at the Highway 18 ballpark, both the Coach Pitch all-stars as well as Rookie Baseball put together a strong push into bracket play as both advanced to this past Tuesday’s bracket finals.
The Coach Pitch Softball all-stars bounced back from a 7-6 loss to Dudley Red before beating Western Little League 16-3 and Warner Robins National 12-2 in Sunday’s bracket play. The Rookie all stars, meanwhile, took 13-3 and 9-8 victories against Vine-Ingle and Dudley to earn a bye to Monday’s semifinals.
In action at Western Little League in Lizella, both the Gold and Purple all stars tested their mettle in a pair of games from a time in which they saw rain impact play off and on through the weekend. The Sandlot (ages 8-9) all stars lost 8-1 to Warner Robins, 15-2 to Dudley and 13-3 to Vine-Ingle before wrapping up their tournament on Monday.
