Ruth Ann Emerick passed away peacefully Saturday, June 13, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of her life was held Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Gray Memorial Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation for family and one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Tracy Hipps officiated.
Ruth was born on July 6, 1954, in Charleston, SC to the late Roy Lee and Clarice Sutton Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Lincoln Vinson.
Ruth worked for many years at the Macon Shirt Factory and fifteen years as a waitress for Bob-Whites Quail Nest. Ruth was a loving mother who was never lacking in her love and care for others. She was determined, tenacious and held her head high and never showed fear or shame. A devoted wife who always put her family first. Ruth’s grandchildren made her laugh and brought her immense joy. Her legacy of strength, joy, resiliency and generous nature will be a comfort to those who loved her most.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband of fifty-four years, Robert Emerick; her children, Kimberly (James) Vinson and Matthew (Coral) Emerick; grandchildren, Robert Vinson and Haley Emerick. Siblings, Eddie (Barbara) Edwards, and Tammie Bell. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted and appreciated by the family.
