The following information is gleaned from incident reports, which are public record, from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Gray Police Department June 10-13, 2026 June 13
Warrant executed
Dep. Braziel was on patrol in Haddock when he pulled into a business at closing time. Braziel was backing into a parking spot when his tag reader alerted that a vehicle pulling out had expired registration. The deputy checked the NCIC system, and it did show the vehicle registration was expired and it showed the registered owner had an active warrant. As the vehicle exited the parking lot, Braziel pulled behind it and initiated a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the male driver and a male passenger and explained the reason for the stop was expired registration. The male driver provided identification, however, the male passenger stated he did not have a driver’s license and gave the deputy his name and date of birth. Braziel had dispatch run the driver and passenger’s information through the GCIC/NCIC system.
Dispatch advised that the male driver had an active warrant out of Jones County.
The male driver was placed under arrest and transported to the detention center where he was turned over to jail staff for booking on the outstanding warrant.
June 16
Marijuana brownies
Officer Farley was patrolling the area of West Clinton St. and Atlanta Rd. when he observed a male subject passed out behind the wheel of a small SUV causing traffic to back up. Farley activated his blue lights and approached the vehicle.
The officer saw a male subject slumped over towards the passenger side. Farley knocked on the driver’s side window and startled the driver awake. Farley instructed the driver to pull into a nearby parking lot to allow traffic to flow. Farley made contact with the male driver and the male advised that he was tired and had just got off work from down the road. The officer had the male exit the vehicle and noticed that the male driver had to pull himself out of the vehicle using the door and he seemed very disoriented.
The male’s eyes were bloodshot and glazed over and his vehicle smelled of marijuana. Farley asked the male driver when the last time he consumed marijuana was and the male stated he had “brownies infused with marijuana after leaving work.” Farley also noticed the male’s tongue had a greenish tint to it. The male told Farley, “He had no idea it would do that” to him. While the male was speaking Farley also noticed the male seemed very sleepy and unbalanced and his pupils were severely dilated. The male driver tried multiple times to do the walk and turn test but was too unstable on his feet and asked for instructions to be repeated. Farley believed the male to be under the influence due to being passed out behind the steering wheel, confused and disoriented, unsteady on his feet, unable to follow instructions and having dilated pupils. Farley then placed the male driver in handcuffs and read Implied Consent notice. The male driver agreed to a blood test and was transported to the Jones County LEC. The male driver was booked for the charges of DUI drugs, DUI less safe drugs, impeding the flow of traffic and reckless driving.
June 18
He couldn’t remember
Cpl. Ribeiro was dispatched to Lite-N-Tie Rd. at the railroad crossing in reference to a suspicious vehicle. The complainant advised dispatch there was a vehicle stopped at the railroad tracks and was not moving. Ribeiro arrived on scene and observed the vehicle with the windows all fogged up. Ribeiro walked to the rear passenger door, wiped off the fog and saw a male subject asleep on the driver’s side. The corporal then went to the driver’s side of the vehicle and knocked on the window, but the driver did not awake. Ribeiro then began to bang on the window and that woke the male up. Ribeiro asked the male driver if he knew where he was and he stated no. The immediate smell of alcohol was coming from the male’s breath when he started speaking. Ribeiro instructed the male to get out of the vehicle. The male complied; however, he stumbled almost falling a few times, and tried to get back in the vehicle. The male then told the corporal that he was from Alabama and had only been in Macon for about a month working. The male driver stated he was out bowling with friends and fell asleep on the way home. The male also told the corporal he drank about six beers prior to leaving the bowling alley, then left and dropped off a friend and was on the way home when he fell asleep. Then the male driver stated he also drank Hennessey with the beer. Ribeiro then asked the male driver how he got all the way over on Lite-N-Tie and the male stated he could not remember. The male stated he could only remember leaving the bowling alley in Macon and nothing else. Ribeiro asked the male driver where he lived, and the male was unable to tell him. The male driver stated he was using a GPS on his phone to get back to where he was staying. Ribeiro noticed on the phone that the GPS showed a location on the very south side of the county that the male was trying to go. Dep. Dominguez arrived on scene and performed SFST on the male and was able to determine that he was under the influence. The male was then transported to the Jones County Jail without any issues.
