Dear Editor,
The start of a new school year has me reflecting on my years as a public-school educator. Some memories are not good, but the majority are happy and bring a smile to my heart and face. These memories remind me of lessons taught, lessons learned, and the need to cover the school year with prayer.
Make it a daily habit to pray for our teachers, administrators, bus drivers, nutrition team, custodians, and all other staff. Pray for their health, strength, wisdom and discernment. Pray for the Lord to enable them to develop a positive relationship with your children. May they seize any opportunity to speak of Him. Pray they understand the impact their attitudes, actions, and tone may have on their students who are America’s future. Each one is a precious soul created for a purpose by Almighty God. May the leaders guide their students their calling in Christ Jesus.
Pray for your children and their peers, that they remember and practice the godly principles they have been taught. Ask God to anoint them to be kind and caring humans, helpful to others, strong in character, and warriors for Him and the people who need His love. Pray they realize who they are as children of God. Ask the Lord to guard and guide them from temptations, help them make wise choices, and surround them with people who will influence them towards Him.
Parents and grandparents, ask God to anoint you with abundant wisdom, understanding, and discernment as you parent your children in this fallen world.
Job 22:28 tells us “You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.” God has given His people the authority, in the attitude of faith, to declare and decree things that align with His Word. Decree the following with me: We declare and decree that: all of our children shall be taught of the LORD and great shall be our children’s peace (Isaiah 54:13); the Holy Spirit is welcome in every school, at every school function, on the school buses, at the Jones County Board Education, and with each Board member, to move, work and convict in the lives, hearts and minds of every student and adult, empowering them to daily work with love, compassion, and godliness; the light and love of Jesus will shine brightly throughout our school system; this will be a year of exciting, fun and positive experiences, filled with many good opportunities to learn and grow; this will be a year of great advancement for God’s Kingdom throughout our school system; the protecting and preserving blood of the Passover Lamb is over every school, every child, and adult; that every stronghold of the enemy is broken and cast out of our school system in the name of Jesus; that NO evil shall befall any person in our school system; all imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God is cast down, and every thought brought into the obedience of Christ, in the mind of every person in the school system, according to 2 Corinthians 10:5; the teachers, administrators, and students who do not know You, will be convicted by the godly examples shown to them through Your righteous ones, and before the school year ends, they will know Jesus Christ as their LORD and Savior.
Heavenly Father, we decree the Golden Rule is the foundational rule this school year. May You be exalted in our schools as never before, for You alone are worthy! Amen.
