Robert E. Deal is the local veteran of the week. He was drafted in October of 1962, did his basic training at Fort Chaffee, Ark., then was transferred to Fort Sill, Okla. Three months later he was transferred to Verdun, France, and returned to the States in October of 1963.
He served two years of active duty in the U.S. Army, two years of active reserve, and two years of inactive reserve. He was discharged in October of 1967.
