1st Choice Heating & Air is now available for the Jones County community to receive their heating and air services from a local source that is family owned.
The business is located at 1803 Highway 49 in Gray, and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Michael Tidwell, the owner of 1st Choice Heating & Air, said he’s originally from Macon, and moved to Jones County about 12 years ago. He said he wanted to move to Jones County for the school system.
“It’s a great place to raise a family, and as I’ve done that, I realized Jones County is a great place to grow a business, too,” he said. “I’m glad we have a home for our business here now in Jones County. It’s a very family-based community, and what’s important for us is important to this community as well.”
He said he was excited for the ribbon cutting ceremony that took place on June 28 to officially let the community know he is open for business.
“1st Choice Heating & Air started in March of 2020, and that was the very beginning of when things were shutting down due to COVID-19. That was a very scary time to be starting up a business. Through hard work and determination, we pressed on, and we have continued to grow,” Tidwell said.
The business owner said they are up to three truck drivers to service the Jones County area with their heating and air needs. He said they’ve received lots of support from the community, and they appreciate that a lot. He said they plan to keep serving the community with top notch service.
“I started in the heating and air business about 25 years ago,” he said. “I started as an 18-year-old man, just trying to get into a trade I could do to provide for my family. I’ve watched this grow, and now I can provide for my family and families of others.”
He said he started learning about heating and air through doing things hands on, then continued through the years to train and get certifications. He said it’s still a continuous education.
“Our community deserves a top-notch service provider. We are able to serve our community locally, instead of them calling in someone from Macon or Milledgeville. We pride ourselves on being thorough and always giving our customers all the available options for them to make the best decision,” he said.
The business owner said they are competitive with their prices, but they aren’t the highest or the lowest. He said they will make the changes that are necessary, so customers will actually see improvements. He said they want to do all they can for their customers.
Tidwell said they want to treat customer’s homes as if it was their home. He said he’s been able to bring on additional family members to his crew, such as his son and his wife. He said they make a good team.
“We provide services to a customer, and they refer us to others. We have customers where we provide service to their entire family,” he said. “All of that’s important, because that’s our family serving your family. That’s what we are all about.”
