Main Street Gray showcases monthly Fridays on Mai

Main Street Gray will be hosting Fridays on Main the last Friday of each month. The first Fridays on Main event will be Aug. 26 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., where local businesses in downtown Gray will be open, and the community can gather for entertainment for the evening.

Ashley Roberson, the Main Street Gray director, said she’s excited for the event. She said a lot will be going on, so people in Jones County should come check it out.

“On the last Friday of every month we’re going to start having Fridays on Main in downtown Gray,” she said. “This started, because several of the local businesses wanted to start doing something different and fun.”

She said Gray Stables, Bent Axle, Chevy’s Pizza, Peach Palette, Ambi Rae, and Bloom will all be open for the Fridays on Main. She said Agave Azul will have their food truck downtown and so will Sno Biz of Georgia. She said Jane’s Asian Market will be downtown to sell spring rolls, and Music Medix will bring students to supply musical entertainment for the night.

“This is just for our local businesses, so we aren’t having vendors. This is just for businesses that have a storefront. This is something to support what we have here in Jones County. There will be shopping, specials, music and food. This will be a lot of fun and something new for our community,” Roberson said.

The director said there will be a business passport with all of the local businesses in Jones County that are participating. She said the passports are a way to remind people they are in Jones County, and the businesses can sign off on the passport if a person visits their store. She said once the passport is full, people will be entered for a drawing. She said each of the businesses will have passports available.

“There has been so much going on downtown. We want to make sure our community realizes these businesses are here. Downtown is walkable, and Butler Hall provides great parking. We don’t really walk around in downtown Gray, and we want to be one of those communities that enjoys what we have here,” the director said.

Roberson said they will be having Fridays on Main in August, September and October. She said they are pausing the event for the holidays and will resume it in January of 2023.

She said she’s going to enjoy the shopping and all of the food available at the event. The director said she feels people will enjoy the new event, and she’s excited for the responses she’s gotten so far.

“It’s important to shop locally and support small businesses,” Roberson said. “This keeps things in our community, and it spotlights what we do have here in Jones County. You don’t have to leave here for certain things. Come see what downtown Gray has to offer.”
