Donny’s Propane provides personal propane needs

Donny’s Propane, a local propane company, is open for customers who are looking for a personal touch with their propane needs.

The business is located at 8323 Rivoli Road in Juliette, and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Adam Segers, operations manager, said he came from Southern Natural Gas Company in Alabama, and met Donny McKinney a little later. He said he started then working for McKinney in Monroe, starting out as a delivery driver. He was an assistant manager for Donny’s Propane for about two years, then took over the business in March from McKinney.

“I live in Monroe now, and I love the small town feel of Monroe and Jones counties. It’s like everyone knows each other,” he said. “I like that we don’t have to advertise Donny’s Propane much. We’ve built such great relationships with our customers from the counties we serve here.”

He said if it’s anything to do with propane, they handle it at Donny’s Propane. He said they do anything that’s gas related. They don’t just deliver the propane. He said they have four full time delivery trucks and drivers, and 4 full time service men.

“Donny’s Propane is a local propane provider, and we serve 12 counties in middle Georgia. We started in Monroe and Jones Counties. Donny McKinney is the owner, and he formerly had McKinney’s Propane, which he had between 1973 to 2001. He sold his company, and after 10 years he opened back up,” Segers said.

The operations manager said Donny’s Propane is important for the local communities in middle Georgia, because the customers need someone they can trust who can get their propane to them and keep things working. He said Donny’s Propane knows their needs and can help them 24/7.

“We try to strive to offer customer service. We don’t sell just gas, we sell customer service,” he said. “We like the small, personal relationships we have here. We have customers leave little notes for us. Things like that mean more than you think to us.”

He said propane is higher in price than they’ve ever seen, and there have been struggles with that. Segers said they want to keep things as affordable as possible for their customers.

The manager said Donny’s Propane is just getting started, and the business will be here for a long time. He said he sees it growing every day. He said they are celebrating 10 years in business this fall.

“My favorite thing about being the manager is being here. I feel extremely honored to be filling the shoes of Donny,” Segers said. “My favorite thing about working here is working hand in hand with our employees. I’ve learned a lot from them, and they’ve learned a lot from me.”
