The Spy Store held a ribbon cutting on Oct. 13 in downtown Gray, showcasing their specialty in camera installation, self-defense items and much more to the people of Jones County.
The new business is located at 111 Atlanta Road, Suite B, in Gray, and is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Adam Favors, the owner of the Spy Store in Gray, said he moved from Twiggs County to Jones County when he was very young.
He said he’s loved Gray ever since. He said it’s a great place to grow up in, and he’s glad he owns a business in the area now.
“I love the simplicity of Gray.
Everywhere you go people are helpful,” he said. “Everybody knows each other, so at the end of the day everybody is watching out for each other. If you need something there’s somebody here who is going to help you with it.”
He said he will never have salespeople trying to get them to make a purchase at the Spy Store, but the store is in town if people need to visit.
“At the Spy Store we do self-defense, CCTV, security installations for home or business, hidden GPS trackers, hidden cameras, and fingerprinting. I’ve actually been doing this sort of stuff for a little over seven years, and I have gotten to the point where a store front is better for this. I want a place where people know where we are,” Favors said.
He said when he was in South Carolina, he took a job similar to what he’s doing now. He said he fell in love with what he was doing and has done it ever since then.
“We opened our store here about two months ago. We’ve been looking for a place in Gray for months,” the owner said. “I love this location. This is a nice place to have a business, since I know a lot of people in Gray.”
Favors said his main products are his installed cameras, which can be installed inside and outside. He said he sells a lot of GPS trackers to various businesses or people who want to keep up with others. He said he sells self-defense items such as pepper spray, stun guns, and much more.
“What sets us apart from others is I am the second alarm company in Middle Georgia where you can step into a store, see what we have and find it. A lot of companies today are door to door, so you don’t know where to go after that.
If anything goes wrong with our systems, we are typically on that by the next day at the latest,” he said.
Favors said he doesn’t have any packages, and he doesn’t do monitoring. He said people can still see what is going on from their Smartphones, and they have full cover night vision cameras. He said the majority of the time he gives customers a tablet with their install. He said he’s happy to have a store everyone can see from the street.
“I love what I do. It gets hectic, but at the end of the day I love what I do,” the owner said. “There’s always something to do, and I’m always trying to come up with the next product. You’ve got to stay ahead, because technology changes daily.”
