Tradition Returns: JCHS to host Morris Bank Christmas Tournament next week

Christmas lights, photos with Santa and the singing of carols are among the treasured traditions that come with the celebration of Christmas. Another tradition makes its return to Jones County High School next week with the return of the Morris Bank Christmas Tournament.

JCHS will once again welcome boys and girls teams for three full days of basketball with the finals and consolation games being set for Dec. 21 with the event’s opening games slated for Dec. 19.

“We’ve got some good teams coming in. We’re looking forward to it,” Greyhounds head coach Buck Harris said. “When I got here, it was something that a lot of people talked about. It’s a tournament in our state where people can just come see good basketball and have a good time.”

Both the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds will aim to put forth a strong showing as event hosts. JCHS began this week with an 8-1 record with the Lady Hounds 5-3 and all three of those losses being by a combined nine points.

The Lady Greyhounds open the tournament next Monday at 6 p.m. against Crisp County with the Greyhounds hosting former region foe Stockbridge at 7:30 p.m. Monday’s winners will advance to Tuesday’s second round, which will set the field for Wednesday’s finals and consolation round.
