ART IN THE COMMUNITY
Val Elliott with Be Creative with Val Elliott is jumping into 2023 with her same enthusiasm to teach painting classes, but also has a few new classes for the community to engage in.
Elliott said she is excited for the new year and everything it’s going to bring. She said Christmas was full of a lot of seasonal fun, too.
“We have had a season full of classes, and we did a lot of painting kits. The kits come with a painting sheet that tells you about 12 different versions of colors you can make from the packet we give you,” she said. “It comes with the packets of paint, paint brushes, the piece that you paint, and the guide. That was one of the things people were doing during Christmas.”
She said she started Christmas in July, where she wanted to preview what was going on for Christmas at her shop. She said that didn’t stop, so she was able to get everything shipped in before the busy season for her painting classes.
“I think this lets people know they have hidden talents they didn’t know they have, also it’s a great stress reliever. It’s something unplugged and something they can enjoy with others. They make friends, and now they come with others. It goes past just painting,” Elliott said.
The artist said people enjoy taking the painting classes at her shop, and she can’t wait to see even more people in 2023. She said she enjoys teaching painting classes, because she gets to see people learn something new and realize they can paint.
She has canvas art, lighted mason jars, Christmas ornaments, ceramics, jewelry, kits, and more for sale at her shop. She said people should stop in, because they might find a piece they like and try painting themselves.
“God gave me this gift, and I have to share Him with everyone else, because I would not have this gift without Him. I’ve been painting for myself since 2001. We are going to continue on with our fun classes in 2023,” the artist said.
Elliott said she will start calligraphy classes this January, because so many people want to learn lettering. She said there was a huge interest in calligraphy. She said it ties into what she does already. She is looking forward to 2023 and everything it will bring.
“I’m looking forward to seeing new people come who haven’t tried painting before this new year,” Elliott said. “I’m excited for 2023 and what it brings. I’m just excited to meet new people.”
