Sgt. Carr was stationary on Hwy. 49 monitoring traffic when he observed a vehicle pass in front of him with a non-working headlight on the passenger side. Carr pulled out behind the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The sergeant made contact with the female driver and advised the reason for the stop.

The driver informed Carr that she knew the headlight was out, she was just waiting to get paid to get a new one. While speaking to the driver, Carr detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Deputy Johnson arrived on scene to assist Carr.

The driver was asked to exit the vehicle and Carr conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. A purse was found on the front passenger seat and inside the pocket of the purse, Carr located an orange bag that was labeled as THC gummies.

Carr also found two THC vape cartridges and a small clear bag with a crystal-like substance that the driver confirmed to be methamphetamine. At that time, the female was arrested and transported to the Jones County LEC where Carr secured warrants for possession of methamphetamine and possession of Schedule I (THC Oil) and turned over to jail staff for booking.

Deputy Allen was on uniformed patrol when he witnessed a vehicle drive past him with non-working passenger headlight and no tag light.

Allen activated his blue lights and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. When Allen made contact with the male driver, the male advised the deputy he had just noticed the headlight the prior night and had planned to fix it that day, but he was unaware of the tag light being out. Allen ran the driver’s information through the GCIC/ NCIC system. That information came back to show that the driver had an outstanding warrant through Warner Robins Police Department for probation violation. Morris performed a routine registration check on the vehicle license plate. The registration check came back to alert Morris that there was no insurance on the vehicle and suspended registration. Morris performed a traffic stop on the vehicle. When the deputy approached the vehicle, she could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver immediately advised Morris she did not have insurance.

Morris told the female subject to put what was in her hand on the trunk of the vehicle and when the female did, there was also two partially burned marijuana cigarettes along with the clear bag. Morris advised the driver she was under arrest for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and operating a vehicle with no insurance.
