JCHS HOSTS STATE FINALS
A week after ousting Jones County from the postseason at the state dual prelims, Jefferson captured a state title on Saturday in the Greyhounds home gym, edging Cass 37-33 in the final to cap off a day that began with wrestling on four mats spread across the gymnasium.
The common thread of teams familiar to the Greyhounds didn’t end there, as Ola finished third, rallying back after a second-round loss to Cass prior to three wins in a row in the loser’s bracket of the double-elimination tournament.
The other team from Jones County’s region, Locust Grove, wrapped the day 0-2. With two of the eight teams in Saturday’s Duals championships, it’s another strong statement of the intensity of the Greyhounds region and the rigor of their schedule.
