Ye are the salt of the earth (Matt 5:13) Each Christian is like a grain of salt for the cause of Christ. Why did Jesus refer to us as salt?
Salt adds flavor. What would mashed potatoes taste like without salt?
Like tasteless paste! The church adds flavor to life.
Sin and its short lived pleasures soon grows bland. Life without God eventually becomes tasteless to those in spiritual darkness. Jesus brings flavor to breathing and living; a Heavenly taste that can be found only in Him.
Salt also creates thirst.
The old saying goes you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. Put a wad of salt in his mouth and watch him drink a stream dry! We are to create a thirst in people for the salvation in Jesus.
They can come to Him and drink freely of the water of life. We, by our lifestyle and witness, can create a spiritual thirst in those who are lost.
So each day you live, salt it down for the cause of Christ wherever you go!
