TENNIS HOUNDS
Both of Jones County’s tennis teams picked up their first win of the season last week, beating Northside-Columbus 4-1 in both matches.
The Greyhounds swept the singles matches, getting wins by Roman Hanania, Ethan Hill and Fred Ogletree by scores of 6-0, 6-0; 6-2-, 5-7 and 10-1 on the tiebreak with Ogletree winning by scores of 6-1 and 6-0. The doubles win came on a 7-4 tiebreak following a 6-3 win and 6-6 tie by Wesley Maynard and Kayleb Durden.
Anna Hill and Ciara Stephens got singles wins for the Lady Greyhounds by scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 7-5, 6-0. In doubles play, Lyndsie Hanner and Chloe Scarborough won 6-4, 7-5 with the other doubles win coming from Arleigh Henderson and Mallory Herndon 6-1, 6-2.
Jones County opens region play Thursday at Ola and hosts Dutchtown March 14.
