Jones County 4-H holds ‘Why I Love My School’ contest

Jones County 4-H hosts monthly in-school club meetings at Gray Station and Clifton Ridge Middle Schools.

Each month’s meeting provides students with an opportunity to give back and support their community through hands on Service Learning projects.

February presented students with a chance to spread positivity through a “Why I Love My School” competition.

Students were each given a paper heart where they were to write down all the things they loved about their school, whether it be the coursework, their teachers or administrators, friends, sports and extracurriculars, and so on.

Groups discussed the importance of getting involved in their school and various clubs as a means of further developing themselves as students and as avenues to further explore their interests, as they then gave their paper hearts colorful designs.

Hearts were collected and judged on creativity and neatness to determine a winner for each grade from both schools who would receive a Dairy Queen gift card, then the hearts were returned to the schools to continue to spread joy throughout the month to those who saw them.

The winners from each school and grade are below. Jones County 4-H would like to thank each student for their effort and participation, as well as those who partner and support 4-H at both middle schools for their help in providing these programs for students.
