Hounds, Lady Hounds dive into region play this week

The Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds have a bit more time to prep for the start of region play with last week’s matchup with Locust Grove being rescheduled.

And while that match being pushed to this Thursday means the schedule is more compact on the front end, it also means a few extra days of practice combined with this past Tuesday’s contest against Mary Persons providing extra time to get ready for the time of the season when results count in the region standings.

Both teams have a heavy workload to begin region play with Locust Grove, Union Grove and Ola being the first three opponents and Union Grove being at home on March 14. Ola and Union Grove finished first and second in the region last year with Union Grove, Locust Grove and Ola each making the postseason from the boys side last year.

The Greyhounds lost 3-1 last week to Lamar County with the on-the-job training of the Lady Hounds including a 10-0 loss to a Lamar County team that’s a postseason regular in its classification.
