“If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth” (Jn 9:41) There are only two groups of people in God’s eyes: “they which see not” and “they which see“. The “see nots” are those who are saved. The “they which see” are the lost. Sounds backwards I know.
The Pharisees were standing there watching the beggar worship Jesus, worship that Jesus accepted. Then Jesus spoke about being spiritually blind and the Pharisees asked Are we blind also?
The Pharisees didn’t think themselves spiritually blind, but they were.
They refused to see Jesus as Messiah and Lord, even when His miracles proved otherwise. The beggar admitted he was blind and Jesus opened his spiritual eyes, and he worshiped Jesus as Lord, something the Pharisees wouldn’t do. Their blindness to Jesus kept them in their sins, unsaved, lost.
In their blindness, the Pharisees claimed they could see and so they remained in their sin. In his blindness, the beggar knew he couldn’t see and turned to Jesus who cleansed him of his sin.
If you stay blind to Jesus you will stay in your sin.
Admit your blindness, that you are a sinner and Jesus is Lord.
Let Jesus open your eyes to Him and save you so that ye should have no sin.
