AA Action Fence Company, a fencing company that services the middle Georgia area with residential and commercial fencing needs, is open in Jones County for any kind of fencing business.
The fencing company is located at 457 GA 49, and is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Chad Kohlmayer, the owner of the fencing business, along with his wife, Kim Kohlmayer, said he was born and raised in Macon before moving to Jones County. He said he’s spent half of his life now in Jones County, so he feels he does know the county pretty well. His wife said she lived in Bibb County, and in her senior year of high school she moved to Jones County.
“It’s a small town, and I like the schools. We have five kids in this school system. There are people here we have grown to love, and businesses we enjoy,” Chad said. “Dairy Queen is great. We had a trailer stolen from us here, and the Jones County Sheriff’s Department was on the ball. They found it. It’s the little things like that.”
Kim said the business was previously in Macon before they moved to Jones County. She said they had a home in Macon, but they moved to Gray about 17 years ago. She said the business has been at its current location a little over a year now.
“AA Action Fence started back in 1994 with his mother and father, Doug and Marie Kohlmayer. It started off with an old beat up pick up truck and a few tools. They started the company, then in 2013 it was passed down to Chad and I.
We took it over, and we’ve been running it ever since,” she said.
He said they provide more fencing out towards Milledgeville, Warner Robins and Eatonton. He said he would like to have more Jones County customers. He said the business has grown these last few years, and he’d like to keep growing while getting business right at home.
“We do a lot of sponsorships for the ball teams here in Jones County. That’s one thing my father was always big on,” he said. “He sponsored a lot of the t-ball teams, and sponsored teams when his grandkids were playing. We’ve sponsored some at the Jones County High School with baseball, football and track.”
She said customers still email Chad’s mother sometimes about things they need for fence estimates, showing just how much loyalty their customers have. Kim said customer service is their number one goal, and they love Jones County.
“We are still very family oriented, even though our business has grown. Some of our family works here, and his mom is still with us. She started out drawing, and it progressed to her being the number one salesman. We called her the queen of AA Action Fence. She started doing all of our estimates, and she’s pretty much retired now, but she’s still here,” she said.
Chad said they do anything with fences, but they don’t break blocks. He said they can do fences in wood, chain link fence, aluminum, vinyl, and much more. He said if people can dream it, they can build it.
“My mom said she knew I was going to be doing fences at the age of three, and my dad was doing this before I was born. This is the only job I’ve ever had. Fencing is what I know, and it’s all I’ve ever done. It’s what we love,” he said.
He said their prices don’t change based on who and where the fence is going. He said they are Christian based, so they do everything they can to stay honest and do right by their customers.
“In the fence business industry, I’ve seen a lot of people get taken advantage of. I’ve seen a lot of stuff we’ve had to fix from other companies doing a bad job,” Chad said. “We aren’t here just to get a check, because we take pride in what we do. We have standards we uphold our guys to. That fence will be there a long time, and we want our customers to love it for a very long time.”
