“And Thomas answered and said unto Him, My Lord and my God.”
(John 20:28) The next Sunday after Easter, Jesus again appeared to His disciples, and this time Thomas was with them. Thomas had said he wouldn’t believe Jesus was resurrected unless he put his finger in the nail holes and his hand in the side wound.
Jesus offered Thomas the chance to do just that, and scripture doesn’t say if he did or not. But Thomas did say to Jesus “My Lord and my God“.
Thomas believed and worshipped Jesus. He called Jesus “My Lord and my God“. Jesus accepted his worship, accepted Thomas calling Him Lord and God. Jesus did not scold Thomas for doing so because Jesus is Lord and God. When John in Revelation tried to worship an angel, the angel reprimanded him because the angel was not God, and told John to only “worship God’’.
There are those who try to teach that Jesus is not God, but here we see the disciples acknowledging Jesus as God--and Jesus does not rebuke them for doing so. If He wasn’t God He would have corrected them as the angel did John. Yes Jesus is God. He is Lord. Question is, is He your Lord and your God?
