A local 10U all-star team returned from Florida earlier this month with the first-place trophy in the Perfect Game Gulf Coast World Series.

The team, Prodigy, went 6-2 in the tournament held in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., rallying from a slow start in pool play.

After opening with a loss to Bluegrass Ambush from Georgetown, Ky., Prodigy got on a roll, going unbeaten in bracket play to take down the Talking Baseball Blue Socks from Woodstock, Fury from Jefferson, the Space City Trash Pandas from Splendora, Texas, followed by a win over the Prowlers from Marietta.

Prodigy showed off its resilience again in the championship series. After a one-run loss in the first game of the series to the Prowlers, Prodigy led early in the second game and didn’t look back, winning 11-1.

Team members are Easton Gay, Christopher Rivera, Landon Elliott, Luke Schomber, Cash Daniel, Dixon Milner, Bryson Mimbs, Jake Boyd, Eli Parks, Ethan Edison and Boone Ghann. The team was coached by Ryan Boyd, Brad Schomber and Dusty Elliott.
