–George Sheffield “It is finished.” (Jn 19:30)
Juneteenth remembers the emancipation of the slaves that was proclaimed by President Lincoln on January 1, 1863. But we have an even greater emancipation than that--the emancipation from the slavery of sin and death.
On the cross, Jesus shouted “It is finished”; His work of redemption completed, signed in His blood.
With the slaves of the Confederacy, they were unaware of their freedom and continued to live as slaves until informed they were free. Jesus has broken the bondage of sin, destroyed the sting of death, but so many people continue to live as spiritual slaves. All they need to do is to hear the Gospel, repent, and accept by faith the atoning work of Jesus, the Greatest Emancipator. Call on Jesus today and receive your freedom in Him. The tyrants of sin and death have been defeated. Jesus has come to set you free.
