Felon arrested on drug distribution, gun charges

A Twiggs County man is facing drug and firearm charges following his arrest during an ongoing investigation by the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.

Bradley Mark Evans, 45, was arrested June 23 and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a schedule II drug with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by convicted felon and possession of a firearm during commission or attempt to commit certain felonies.

A Facebook post by the Jones County Sheriff’s Office said Evans was arrested without incident and was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine along with several different types of prescription pills, including oxycodone, adderall and percocet. Also found in his possession was a firearm and just over $9,500 in cash.

Evans is being held without bond.

JCSO Investigator Barron Hall said Evans’ arrest was pursuant to an ongoing investigation. He said the suspect was no stranger to Jones County officers, and he was out on bond for a similar charge in Bibb County at the time of his arrest.

Hall said he had received information that Evans was coming to Jones County with drugs. He said he and JCSO Sgt. Kasey Carr spotted Evans on New Clinton Road near Adahi Road, and the suspect was arrested without incident.

“He actually had drugs in his hand when we arrested him,” Hall said.

Hall said they knew Evans was a felon when they found the gun in his car. He said the gun, a Ruger 45 pistol, was in a bag in the back seat.

Hall said a quantity of methamphetamine was found in the car along with seven different prescription drugs.
