Statewide Bible Reading Marathon

Dear Editor,

Friday, July 14, at 7:14, God’s Holy Word will be read, not only in Georgia, at local courthouses, but around the globe! This is especially exciting because we have the promise that His Word will NOT return to Him void, but it WILL accomplish what He pleases and WILL prosper where He sends it! (Isaiah 55:11) July 14th is an incredible day that will bring blessings to our Heavenly Father and to everyone who participates, whether by reading or listening!

The numbers are changing daily, but at least 25 nations and 16 states are joining us in proclaiming God’s Holy Word! This is the 5th year that all 159 counties in Georgia are participating.

The Jones County/Gray Statewide Bible Reading Marathon will be this Friday evening at 7:14 PM on the Jones County Courthouse Lawn. Those who arrive early can participate in the pre-reading time of worship at 6:30 PM. Those attending may wish to bring a folding chair or blanket, and a Bible. Our portion of reading is from 2 Samuel.

As God’s people, WE have a major role to play in God’s Kingdom. The Bible reveals His instructions for success. God’s promise is unchanging, yet it is also conditional, as indicated by the word IF. His response is determined by our obedience to His requirements.

It is a 4-step process that is to be implemented on a 24/7/365 basis. We, God’s people, are to be active participants in doing His will. We must HUMBLE ourselves, PRAY continually, SEEK to learn more of God’s Word so we can know who He is, and TURN from anything we know is sinful. “IF” we are obedient to follow His instructions, in an earnest and sincere manner, “THEN” God does His part. (2 Chronicles 7:14) The date and timing of this event is based on the scripture, with some counties choosing to read in the AM, while others will do so during the PM hours.

Do not let anything stand in your way of standing up for the Word of God! Pray and be prepared! The enemy of our souls is predictable in that he will do everything he can to stop this reading. He cannot handle the speaking of Scripture. However, the blood of Jesus is greater than any weapon of Satan. Join us in reminding him of that, as we declare the words of Isaiah 54:7 which states ‘No weapon formed against us shall prosper!’

What an amazing honor and privilege we have this Friday, to make a difference by exalting our God with the declaration of His written word! I hope to see you, your family, and you church congregation, standing with us, united, as the local Body of Christ, for this time of blessing the Lord, our community, state, nation, and the whole earth, with the public, oral, and unashamed declaration of God’s Holy Word.

Please, share the news of this exciting event with your family and friends! Everyone is invited because this is a Body of Christ event. It is also a great family event and such a wonderful way to end the workweek. I pray that our community will really support this public reading of God’s Word!

Our inclement weather location is Gray Baptist Chapel.

Sincerely, Debra Hall
